RE: Abandoned ATSF photo recon
Topfuel is right. I used to go buy these car every day on my way to my grandparents. Ive been watching them for almost 15 years. The gut that owns them is in my friends Lionel club. Im also not sure what he plans to do with them. He wanted to sell them about two years ago, but I don't think anybody wants them. Most people who own privet cars Ive talked to say that these cars are junk and can not be repaired to meet FRA rules. However I think they are wrong I have been inside that fence and have taken a long look at them. The look structurally sound. I have not seen the interiors. They could be restored. But rest assured they are not abandoned, the guy paints over the graffiti every so often, and keeps the weeds down.
Also a foot note the switch from the Olive sub to this spur has been removed. However I believe all the parts are laying next to the spur lead. |
