I did the drive up to West Colton. Traffic sucked, but I did manage to get there before sundown. My new Toyota Tacoma came in handy. I drove right up to the power tower and took pictures. My newest lens, Nikon 80 - 200 f/2.8, came in handy for the low light. I'll post a couple later tonight.

Tonight's pictures are my backup in case UP4141 leaves tomorrow before I get up there. Yes, I'm planning on going back up there again in hopes of some pictures with better lighting. It is now facing East and the morning light will hit it just right if it's not moved. At 7:30PM it was sitting all by itself. I'll do my best to wait for a trace report in the morning, but... sometimes you just gotta take the drive Smile

You cannot drive in/through the W. Colton yard. That is trespassing... But there are several legal vantage points, the most popular being Pepper Ave at the east end of the yard. I don't know where the the "power tower" is exactly, maybe Mark can elaborate?

From the looks of it he is in the large dirt bike area that is just southwest of Pepper... but I dunno.

Perhaps his Tacoma has stealth mode.. been in a Tundra that has that option and I know of a few others that had that option added as well.Big Grin

I shot this one at the end of M Street, on the east side of S. Mt. Vernon Avenue. I've been there a couple of times.

Thanks ryan. Big Grin

I was stunned that these turned out so well. In fact, when I submitted one to rp they accused me of "digital manipulation." I convinced them otherwise. If you're interested there are more 4141 shots at randydoss.smugmug.com. It's a featured gallery at the top.
