As the lead units pass by the base camp, da Wolf and Brett enjoyed the sight after making their captures.

The DPUs passed by, and it was time to get back to the base camp.

Back in the comfort of my folding seat, I got a chance to catch up with more of the folks who had arrived throughout the morning. A little bit after 9:00, this westbound BNSF stack train would end up being the last train I captured from this site. a couple of the turkeys also enjoy the train as it makes its way down track 2.

Sometime after the stack train cleared, a Forest Service truck pulled up. We first thought the ranger was after the two motorcycle riders who had pulled up to the site just before. It turned out that the ranger and the volunteer who was riding along were after us. They came up with some lame reason why we could not be where we were. They told us that we were illegally staging and that we had to leave. When that didn't get immediate compliance, they chimed in with the lame Homeland Security excuse since we were on heighten alert. We ended up calling in all the group and taking down the hut. Just after we had finished packing up, another Forest Service truck pulled. This guy was chasing a motorcycle rider, but he answered our question about the first ranger. He basically said that he didn't understand why she (the other ranger) told us that we had to move.
We moved any way and reestablished camp at Hill 582 minus the hut and decorations. The ranger who was chasing the motorcycle rider was there busy writing him up. The first ranger also showed up and came over to tell us that it was okay for us to remain where we were without our "kiosk" set up. Since we were already relocated, we decided to stay at the garden--site 2. During this time of breaking down one site and moving to the other, there was a lull in the action. It was nice of the railroads to be so considerate of our situation. Our first train at site 2 came down track 2, and everyone disbursed to get a spot to capture it. |

About twenty minutes later, a westbound manifest came down track 2. The DPUs are passing by in this image.

A small group decided to hike in the direction of Alray. Just after they left site 2, a UP stack train came down track 2. The DPU passes by my location.
