As of 4:00 1983 was coming to a stop about a mile west of the Palm Springs Amtrak station. The line has been single-tracked all day due to work on the ROW. I headed back to Cabazon at 4:30 to get a soda and wait there.
Back by the tracks, I realized when Amtrak went by that they were letting eastbounds through again, so 1983 would be held up a while. Westbounds are probably backed up to Sweden.:omg: I got to my perch by highway 111 at 11:00. Shot lots of trains, but was beginning to think that Arizona had fallen into the Atlantic. Had wife (code name Tonto) check the net at 2:15. 1983 was expected in Colton at 3:23. HAH! Somebody needs to tell someone about the work on the ROW so they can get the schedule right. :beatdeadhorse: There. I feel better now.:surrender: |

It is still at ICTF .. or likely inside Dolores getting serviced. There is no departure time yet.

Currently sitting at Pepper (West Colton,CA). DS-250 told them their crew is on duty at 1830.

It departed Long Beach around 3:30PM. sorry, could not give you the heads up cause I did not have internet access until now.

I was told by a UP Conductor that UP 1983 is making it's way back to L.A. from Arkansas. It is leaving AK tomorrow morning he says and that its scheduled arrival is March 10th at 00:37(12:37AM I think). Obviously the arrival time can easily change. We'll just have to wait it out.:ballon:

Yes, as a DPU. But the same guy told me now that the Arkansas Manager took her off the train to Oakland, apparently not L.A..
