UP 2010 (Boy Scouts of America Tribute)
Well, here's GE's attempt at a Heritage unit! Everyone on Trainorders.com was expecting more, which probably comes after years of having JUST EMD Heritage units that held the full scheme over the entire unit. None-the-less, it is still an intresting unit to look at! The unit should be shown off today for the first time in Houston, TX...hence UP releasing pics of it off their site for those who would not be there.

Well that's a bit of a let down. Other than the scouts who will recognize the emblems there's no real sign of anything that shows off any of the BSA heritage...

Better than nothing at all I suppose.

I agree ... kinda boring. Looks like UP wanted it pretty standard so they could eaily remove the BSA stuff and slap their traditional decals on it later on.

Thoughtful gesture though. Goodday

GE had nothing to do with it, UPee did. It's clean, simple but some of the emblems are too small to see except up close.

Better than nothing and I like it enough to go see if when it comes near here.

TCS - not a heritage unit, a commemorative unit. Goodday

Excuse me, wording in my head came down onto the keyboard all mixed up :bgrin:You are correct, it was all UP just as it was the other EMD's. I agree with you, its still something and I'll make the effort to see if when it rolls thruogh my areas. Heritage/commemorative...call it what you want!

I wonder how long UP will let it last like this...

BTW: Thanks for the link showing it larger Jeff, I had to do my re-size just for WCRF and apparently I did it a size too small than I regularly do!

I agree with the above posts. UP can decorate it better, if you just go by it fast, you wont even see the writing!

Agreement. I had to look at Jeff's link to read the radiator wing lettering ...

That and the merit badge®s could've been put above and below the main logo and been big enough to see. Oh well, They didn't ask us did they ??? LOL

I think it's pretty neat, and cool that UP did that. I don't see much mention about any other Class 1 doing special locomotives. Of course you would expect them to spend more money on doing their own locomotive heritage units.

What does BNSF have, the Microsoft unit that has a sign that is all of 2'x4' if that?
