Great pictures, Ken!!

We had a great time. It was a little different than last year for us, since we were able to be there in the daylight hours this time.

Robert, Thank you. I really like two black and white conversions from up on the hill across from camp. The image of the train with Jeff capturing his image is a nice perspective and quite a different feel than mine of the same train.

After trolling about Goffs in search of a shade tree to eat some lunch, we gave up and headed to the Fountains of Fenner at the travel plaza. The glorified truck stop featured a hand painted wall map that has the West Coast on the right and the East Coast on the left... it was rather confusing, but I guess the map maker took an artistic license to make such a flop.

Here's the main fountain at Fenner... The Fountains of Fenner.

Also from Fenner is this view of one of the oasis palms at Fenner and the colorful carpet of the desert floor. The anticipated wildflowers were basically non-existant, peaking several weeks ago. There were still plenty of greenery and the grease-wood plants were in bloom as Robert has shown earlier in the thread.

Looking northeast to the Providence Mountains, the plateau is called "Wild Horse Mesa" according to my DeLorme Atlas & Gazetteer. This was high noon as you can see the shadows on the palm.

With no actiojn at Fenner, Rick and I headed to Danby. Danby is another location that I hadn't been to and wanted to see what was there. Mark at the Goff's Museum mentioned that the original courthouse was still standing there, it wasn't any of the structures near the tracks.

This is an eastbound stack train passing Danby...

After checking out the abandoned mining operation, we closed out the stop at Danby with a westbound.

Hey Guys, had a ton of fun out there this weekend, despite the harsh winds we had. I'm now at a Hotel here in needles and online, I decided I wanted a bed instead of the car seat again for the night.

Here are some photos from over the weekend
