Here is a shot from the same time as my other image here in this thread. This one from Colima again with the LOA36R tied down, but this one shows what I think is a Crossbuck that protected the former UP crossing... just a guess since there is no longer any rail left from the line.

Chris.... Isn't that the area where Colima Jct was at years ago? Sure looks familiar. Years ago I worked a a 2PM job out of Los Nietos that didthe work from Valla to the end of the branch at Collier Chem on the La Habra Branch. We had from Colima Jct to Fullerton Jct from noon to mid-night and the UP had the RR from mid-night to noon.

Yes V... that is the former Colima Jct location.

Mills and Lambert are the cross streets. This was to go along with the other image that Chris B posted. Unfortunately for me, only the grade crossings were left on the line by the time I started coming to the area. Now - even those are gone.. but this crossbuck is still left.

Hey Virlon,

Do you know who the crew was on the SP Fullerton Switcher during the mid-1990's? It was the same bunch of guys for many years. I'm pretty sure all of them must be retired by now.

I always got a laugh out of the engineer. He wasn't very friendly at all, but you knew it was him because he was a chain smoker and always had his arm out the window. He also had a lead foot when it came to obeying the speed limits. Compared to the UP local which ran in the afternoon, it was nearly impossible to chase the SP local through Sunny Hills because they ran a good 10 MPH faster.

David... The only one I remember from the mid 90's would have been Carl Vertoch. He was undoubtly one of the finest PE guys I ever had the pleasure to work with over the first 10-12 years of my career. By the mid 70's my wife and I had left LA and moved up to the San Luis Obisopo area. Both of my younger brothers are still in the LA area, one an officer in WC and the other is the signal maintainer in Anaheim and he lives in Seal Beach. When I go down to visit him I used to stop in at Los Nietos and see Carl and some of the other guys. They are all retired now as most of us for some reason got older than dirt. I wish you could come up with a name for that engineer,' cause I know I would know him

RE: Some more UP Anaheim Local shots
Steve, contact Chris Butts and see if he will repost them. They have been gone for quite some time actually. First attachment server crash in August 2008.

I left the thread intact otherwise because of the information that followed the image postings.

I will send him a message on Facebook and see if he has them available still. Not sure if he has visited since the new software.
