Here is my barely salvaged (100 iso! DOH!!) and HDR processed sunset shot.

Very interesting 424... I have heard of that software, but never ventured.

According to RaiderJP's data, that train should be the "S FTMOIG1 27", I think ?? (Thanks Anthony !!)

I had a Great time. Lots of fun and trains. We got up to the hotel at about 6pm, and they said they would be out late, so we headed out to Ludlow. Coming in on the 40 Freeway, we saw the big blue hut, that was cool!Cool We got there at about 7:30pm, and Ken and Brett showed us the way in. It was a little breezy, but mostly warm throughout the night. The train traffic was pretty steady, with some looong 60 second lulls.Tongue Some left and a some waited for the Chief. It came through at about 11:20pm, and was definitely worth the wait. It was cool seeing the brake lights on the sides of the cars, and the guy scarred for life, in the observation car.:D Then we went back to the hotel, after Amtrak. The next morning we did some railfanning from the Hotel, and headed out to Daggett. That was a cool place. Then we all drove to Oro Grande to see two trains we passed on the way down, on Rt.66. We met Leia in Victorville, and chatted for a bit. After that we headed back on the 15 freeway to head home. The whole freeway was stopped from around Steins hill, all the way to obove Summit, and farther East. An overturned truck was on fire at the bottom on the hill. I'll have some pics later. It was a really great time, and look forward to the next trip!:dude:

Jeff, HDR is a process you can do in Adobe Photoshop. Do a search for high dynamic range in the help section. I hate using HDR processing as it makes for some unrealistic lighting. But that image was barely salvageable as it was black from the horizon down. I blew the shot. I wanted to get SOME thing out of it. Smile

Eu Jin, thanks!

Robert, I am hoping someone starts an actual trip report thread. Sorry you guys hit traffic.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure S-FTMOIG1-27 is a WB train though, and that looks like a Z train. I don't have my papers with me though, so I can't go looking. Sorry.

Well I had a great 36 hours running around the desert with you guys. Sorry I missed the group picture Jeff don't forget to send me a copy. I'll try and get as much info in this before signing off. I arrived late Friday since I landed up chasing UP 7605 from Kelso to the top of Cima Hill, then stopping for sunset shots. Arriving at the camp site after closing the Kelso Cafe.

Arriving near camp I met a surprised Dash 9 on Main #2 and we both dashed our lights for a moment and with a couple of blasts from his horns he was passed and I was still breathing. Backing upI found the road to the camp site and caught the antics of the gang shooting the moon (the one up in the sky).

Finally did some night shots only to run out of battery power atop of Prairie dog hill just as the Chief made it's 11:30 appearance. With a restless sleep in the cab i started my morning with breakfast at ludlow cafe again (just wasn't in the mood for cooking with a cafe with in a mile. Trains ran hot and cold and repair work on main 32 slowed down traffic for awhile. My 300D died again so it will be making the trek to Irviine for it's second and final repair

Missing the group shot was a disappointment (Jeff you owe me a copy) lol. The 20D performed well and i have two dusk shots on railpictures feel free to check them out as time permits. i'm debating on how to create this slide show on proshow once together I'll advise the gang. all in all a great time was had by me and hopefully all. Looking forward to the next trip idea, thanks again for all your friendships, conversations and most of all just the fun of shooting trains, yelling Swift (except for me) and of course the meet and greet tent for railfan and train crews alike.

Check out two photos from the meet on RP below:
