How about a recap of people's plans? For example, is anyone camping out Saturday Night and if so, will there be culverts nearby? Some are staying at the Ramada, but is that for both nights?

Thanks!

I know that Jeff and I are camping Saturday night also for sure. Not so sure about others plans. I think Kensz is camping both nights also.

There is a rather large culvert wash under the BNSF or a makeshift rock stall south of camp. Personal choice is the nearby Chevron or the burger joint in Ragtown (Ludlow)

Same with the Ramada Social Club.

My plans are to depart the OC at 1:30pm from the Anaheim launch facility. Getting toLudlow as quickly as the traffic allows. Maybe a few pauses/detours along the way. Set up camp, most likely between the two hills on the west side of town, just like last year.

Saturday will be my Roman-Foam day. The EZ hut will be deployed with Hawaiian Cheese. ATCS should be blaring away, with evening lights to illuminate the hut area. Once the hut is up, I am going to venture out for a few hours, with no real plan as of yet. Cadiz is long time favorite, but I have been eyeing a moutain perch above Klondike...

Sunday will be breaking camp and railfanning towards the west until the sun finally sets. Once again, no real plans per se, but will follow the lead of the BNSF and later the UP.

As far as culverts, I don't recall a good location for culvert activities. Last year the Chevron station was put into use by most attendees. A certain buttress for a certain trestle was known to have been watered on several occasions, but that wash is a quater mile hike to the west. I think that closer quarters could be found.

to recap the attendees that are on the GO list...

Signal 424 is me. It is the signal closest to my house AND it has my birthday in it (April 24)

Did you really think it was a GUY asking about culvert locations? Based on what I hear from the guys at work, that is a chick thing. Cool

Has anyone heard from Ashley yet?

For anyone wishing to use this thread to get information on the Needles trip, the Ramada Inn at Barstow had rooms going for $79 to $85 a night depending if you want one bed or two. Rooms on the back side of the motel have a view of the main plus a yard lead or two. Last year they parked a manifest train with about 4 or 5 old Geeps on it. It was a great view to have. See you in Ludlow!

Okay...

Been rattling a few thoughts around in the old brain. Plenty of room with only two brain cells...

"Needles to the Sixth Degree" is the one that seems to be sticking.

Others that are still bouncing around...
"Double Boxcars In Needles" (dice game inference).
"Needles Sub; Volume Six"
"Ludlow 6, The Saga Continues"

Just to keep track of those that have replied with a positive response for attending the outing thus far:

chris w.
brett c.
joseph b.

It sounds great. Problem is I applied for a job in Arizona and if they offer me an interview, I will need every penny to get there and back. Then, if they hire me....I will really need to scrimp because relocating will be expensive.

However, if Arizona denies my application between now and then, I am DEFINITELY going on this outing!! [Image: 28_spin.gif]

Will there be twinkabobs?

Twinkibob- That is Bob dressed in Yellow. Duh!!

But really... Kaboob with peices of a Twinki,Those little orange slices,Pinapple and cherries.

Think - Ultimate sugar-rush.

And the appearance all depends on if John and Ash make it out.

Aloha all:

Just trying this thing out ...

Anyway, it sounds like Bob, who will be dressed in yellow for this trip, does indeed want to go for two nights in Barstow, as do I.

And Jeff: Would it be possible to create Irwin's twin brother? With two Irwins, Marissa could host ATCS both days. In all likelihood, Bob and I won't arrive at Camp Bass until sometime Saturday morning. If you want to decorate or use any LED lighting before then, I can just send some of this stuff with you.

TWINKIEKABOBS! I gotta have one!

I thought of you guys today. The last two weeks I was working in Barstow across the street from the Ramada. Today, I walked through the parking lot there to get to lunch at the Sizzler. I almost walked in and made a reservation right then and there, but being as I live so darned close, that wouldn't have been financially sound. FUN!!! But not wise. [Image: 8_grim.gif]

Yeah.. not to sound for sure.. but a heck of a lot of fun me thinks Leia. (say that in a pirate voice or with an Irish accent)

Any word on the job yet? What part of Arizona would it be (wonders now if that was mentioned already[Image: 8_grim.gif] )

Glad to hear you will be making it Mr.VR. Look forward to sharing your company again.

My plans will start Friday morning at Ibis, Needles and then tank up inParker where I may chase the AZCR if it departs on time. If it does I'll chase it down highway 62 till itcuts into the deset then double back to Cadiz for the meet. Once done at Cadiz I'll take 66 to amboy and Ludlow should arrive late afternoon.

I'll set up camp and hang around the general area. i initially was going to set up a tent but depending upon weather I may just lay the sleeping bag out in the back of the truck. Saturday breakfast at camp site and exploring as far east as Amboy. With a late departure through Kelbaker road and Kelso ,cima hill and then Vegas. Depending upon how my scedule looks I may return Sunday and work from Ludlow to Daggett returning to Vegaslate this will depend on my time off from work. But I will be there Friday evening and most of Satuday.

Outward Scott has sent me an email and he is planning on attending too. I would bet he would be a camper, not a moteler. Outward Scott could easliy be "Outback Scout" with his outdoors skills !!

Hello all,

Good news!!

Just got word the Jack will be making it out to join us.

Not sure what days or if he will be Outback Jack or Ramada Jack.

Also Chuck posted on the other messageboard that he is going to make it also... Does that mean Joseph is in for sure now?

Chris.
