Abandoned Spur track towards Brea
Hey Guys right in the area where the UP Brea Chem Industrial Lead track crosses Lambert Road and Palm Ave in La Habra and passes by the In-N-Out. What did they Switch there?

What did they switch off the Fullerton Industrial Lead at Imperial Hwy crossing Bonita Place?

You should have seen (and heard) when they used SD-9s to switch the lead, but sorry, have no idea what was there.

The track that comes off south east of Palm leads down to the track that crosses at Bonita Place. It does not come off the line at Imperial.

The track used to lead to a Hershey distribution warehouse if I recall correctly. There was some discussion on this spur years back. It has been a while though.. Not even sure if it is still in the archives here.

Not sure it is officially abandoned though.

I wonder when the last delivered cars on that spur because I can't ever remember seeing cars in age's on that spur maybe the SP delivered the last car there. That's just a guess.

RE: Abandoned Spur track towards Brea
Well ... a quick little search using the search bar up at the top of the forums for La Habra rendered the results I was looking for.

Here is a link to the thread discussion.. though the images were lost in a server crash. I left the discussion as it had some good information. The images Chris had posted were of a weed sprayer and then if I recall a few of a local switching out what was a former Nestley (not Hershey as I had previously mentioned) warehouse on the tracks that parralel the line between Imperial and Lambert.

It even appears one of the signals has its original bell!

As far as I know, the switch is still intact. UP uses it to store cars for one of it's customers.

Yes it is in place still though it has been about a year since Pacific Plastics extra cars have been stored on it and hidden in all the trees and bushes is a red flag or something.

RE: Abandoned Spur track towards Brea
Some of us called it the palm spur, not only because it crosses Palm St., but because of the palm trees that grew between the rails at times.
