WCRF Photo Contest Return in September

For those of you that have been with us for the last 2 years or so you may remember that we had monthly Photo Contest and Photo Assignments.

We are going to start these up again starting in September.

Your suggestions are welcome for topics.

Also if anyone is interested in helping out to administer these please send me a PM.

Thanks fellas... any suggestions on topics for the contest?

I am planning on laying them all out in advance, then it will be as simple as opening the new thread, closing the old... no more delay in putting up new ones and that way everyone can plan their images in advance.

Thinking of starting up the Photo Assignments again also but will probably see how the Contest works all the way through with voting and submitting etc. I do not want to have to use Photobucket this time around as that was a bit of a pain.

I remember we had a night shot one and a roster one. Also one on you had to take a photo of a crew member working on a train.

Here are some of my ideas that I came up with
1-A Tunnel/Bridge shot.
2-Locals trains. (photo of yard jobs or local working in industries)
3-Station shots.( photo of a Station or train in Station)
4-Snow shots
5-Low angel shots.
6-Far away shot

Those are just some of the ideas I have.

Will the contest be limited to pictures taken on the west coast?

Well that is a good question Andrew. I think the majority of the submissions will be in our area of coverage already so I will not limit it to such as long as it turns out that way.

Ok. I get out to the west coast (in a position where I can railfan) only every couple of years. There are a lot of neat subjects in my local area that would be pretty cool to throw in from time to time.

I hope this won't be too limited since I do NOT have a professional digital camera like some of you fellas have!

I am a firm beleiver and member of the "You do not need a Professional digital camera to take good photos" club. If you have a true passion for photography, you can take acceptable photos on any medium. For our contest your photos just need to meet the subject matter of the contest to be accepted. This is not Railpics.com so I am sure yours will be just fine, just put your best effort into it. They will be voted on in an open members poll.
