David Plowden Photography Exhibition and Presentations in California
David Plowden, a noted photographer of American landscape and industry, currently has an exhibition of his railroad photographs at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. The photos come from his new book, Requiem for Steam, and depict the end of the steam era in North America. If you enjoy high-quality railroad photography, I encourage you to stop by the museum to view and ponder the exhibition in-person. Plowden is one of those rare photographers who successfully conveys railroad subjects to broader audiences. The exhibition is up through January 6, 2011, and is included with regular admission to the museum.
Plowden will be visiting the museum next month, where he'll be making lectures and presentations about his railroad photography. The Center for Railroad Photography & Art, which is sponsoring the exhibition, is hosting a lecture and reception on Thursday, November 4. Plowden will also be speaking at the museum on Saturday, November 6. His new book will be available for purchase, and he'll be happy to sign it, along with any of his other books. Drop me a line if you have any questions, and I hope to see you there! Scott Lothes, Project Director Center for Railroad Photography & Art |
