So many people lacking common sense, I feel bad for the engineers and the decedents' families.
Do the engineers get some type of counseling and how effective is it? I'm sure if I was an engineer who struck someone through no fault of my own I would still be traumatised. I suppose I would close my eyes or look away at the time of impact so I wouldn't have any traumatizing images burned into my retinas. |

What would scare me the most from an engineer's standpoint is the idea if someone driving a school bus loaded with children with the driver trying to beat the train because I do work with kids.

Reminds me of the haunted San Antonio train crossing that I just ran across yesterday on youtube. |

You don't see much, but it's the sound and smell that gets to you... Yes, most Railroads offer time off and counciling for incidents.

I couldn't imagine what a crew must be feeling in those situations. I guess you could rationalize and say it wasn't your fault (assuming it wasn't), but still. Ugh.

RE: Why not leaveveryone on the train and gethe train on its way?

Expect major delays, updates to follow.Instead, they make a huge problem for everyone out of it. In EMS, I have retreived tissues and parts. Evidence on the rail heads can be documented and removed. The train can then leave and evidence on the ground will remain undisturbed. So why hold the train? |
