Fire Department & Railroad Antiques Show and Sale + My railfannin'
So today my dad and I went out to windy San Bernardino to see the sale going on.It was decided to be inside the station and museum after the wind started gusting up to at least 45 MPH after 6:00 AM.It was originally planned to be in front of the station in the parking lot.
So here we go...

As we were driving on the 91 East to the 215 North,we noticed a BNSF through Santa Ana Canyon with those new, plain white containers.I found out they were UPS containers.
We drive ahead of it,and 10 minutes later,it passes through San Bernardino.

Another stack...

Some local passes by on the main.I don't know what its name was.It had four grain cars and diverged three tracks north after passing the station.Help?

Another Stack...this is right about when I met WCRF user Curley.
We talked to each other and helped passengers find their way to the Metrolinks to L.A.

A U.P. manifest pays a visit with an ACE in front.
Best shot of the day in my opinion. This is where more San Bernardino Foamers (regulars) showed up.

This was one off the cars on the manifest which I've never seen.Anyone know?

After no trains for 30 minutes and freezing my butt off,I walk down to see the A Yard Switcher 101.Here is a partially fried Dash-9

The lead unit of 101 vs. The big tire

Curley and I walk down to the end of the Metrolink platform.
This is when I saw my first one of these...Metrolink coach #187.

I decided to boogie back to the museum to check up with my dad,who was helping out, before getting back to our spot on the Track 6 platform to see the track 1 Metrolink leave over the flyover, hoping I could get a pic.
I come back out to see Curley walking back.
Supposedly we can't be on the platform because of the "main" (not even!) that was next to the platform and our safety.
Stupid security!

And that was basically the start of a dead period of time until I left.
I talked to some guy visiting from Flordia (railfan). We had a nice, brief chat about the passenger trains.
He left to continue on a couple more miles in hunt of trains around his once hometown.

Here is the last pic of the day of a Metrolink into San Berdoo.

That was not an SD70ACe but an SD70M. Also where does this Fire Department stuff fit into what you have posted so far?

Correct, that's an M - ACe's have two fans and dynamics in back.
That's a concrete tie car - note the rails along the outside that the straddle cranes run on (youtube: P-811).

They have both, the P811 and the TRT. The P811 only replaces ties and the ballast, where the TRT replaces the rail as well as the ties and the ballast. Different machines.

Have they changed the P811 Eric? When I was the Conductor on the P811 on the Tehacahapis' replacing wood ties for the cement ones, we also removed the old rail and replaced the new rail with the one machine at the same time. Of course that was back in the mid to late 90's.

I'm not sure, that is just what I've always been told the difference was. I know some guys who worked with the P811 in the Feather River Canyon and they said it didn't do the rail on the signal machine. I'm certainly no expert on track equipment. Maybe the TRT-909 is just the update machine form the P811.
