FRA Car to Los Angeles
Heads up for anyone interested. A UP "Pilot Train" (?) towed an FRA inspection car into Los Angeles this afternoon. I was able to get (a badTongue) video of it passing through Guasti, next to the Ontario airport around 4pm. Symbol shows it being the WYULAP 16 ~ Yuma,AZ to LA.

And here's a still from the video: Interesting move.. What?

The DS asked them where they were headed, and I think they said they were going to the 18th St. Yard on the Metrolink side and would get a Pilot in LA to take the train in.

8th street yard? Never heard of an 18th street yard...

I think it was the 217 which needs power pulling it, but I'd have figured they'd have fixed the thing a long time ago... Was that the car in the video?

I think there was some issues with them operating that as a stand along vehicle, so now it is always pulled by host (or loaner) power.

It will run the Orange/San Diego subs next Monday. Then it's going to run around San Diego, then tie up there for the rest of the year, and run back north January 4th I believe.

Next monday as in the 19th? Or next monday as in the 26th?

Sorry but some people use 'next' to signify 'this coming' and some people use it to signify 'the one after this coming'

Yea, probably Eighth street then.

The car number looks like the 219, but it's hard to tell.

Are there any plans to go on the Olive sub?

It wasn't me.

Around what time should the FRA car come down the San Diego sub on Monday?

Usually it comes down in the mid afternoon, getting in between 785's departure and 578's arrival.

I'm going to try to get it either at Flagstone Park in Irvine, or if I feel like messing with the security, Santa Ana station.
