A few from Cajon Pass 12/17/2011
Went over to Cajon Pass yesterday to catch the first run of the City of Hope Christmas train. Thick clouds were the rule of the day, though the sun did break free a few times throughout the morning. Clouds or not it was still an excellent morning on the pass, below are a few photos....

After catching two near Swarthout Canyon we set up for the Christmas train at Blue Cut and were treated to a few eastbounds, the first being UP 4298 (MWCNP-17).

After a bit another BNSF eastbound stacker worked its way passed Blue Cut, soon after the head end passed the Christmas train came rolling up track two and had no problem over taking the slow stack train.

The Christmas train rolls into Summit...

Now on its return trip to San Berdo the train drifts through Swarthout Canyon.

After catching the train in Verdemont we shot the train a final time just north (railroad east) of San Bernardino, 6715 brings up the markers as the train glides down the Cajon Sub.

Thanks for looking,
~Ryan

Mrs. Claus was on her break as the train rolled into San Berdo. BNSF business car 2 (Columbia River) must be a lot nicer than the slay..... Wink

Nice images. Very So-Cal winter-esque with the gray skies. What was Santa's other half slaying? Dragons?
