Locking UP Locomotive?
I guess this would be directed toward our Union Pacific-employed members... Is this a recent addition or has UP always had switch locks on their units? I have never seen this before, but it looks like it's been there a while.

RE: Locking UP Locomotive?
Had 'em for a while, on most standard cab EMD's they're at the top of the door above the conductor's window.

Looking at some old UP (and SP) photos I do see it is indeed a longstanding feature on their locomotives which I just haven't noticed before. I haven't looked into NS but I'll take your word for it. I'm surprised this isn't industry standard, but it probably will become so shortly... |

RE: Locking UP Locomotive?
There's a big push/requirement locking unattended locomotives since a press release in the PNW by some whistle blowers earlier this year.

RE: Locking UP Locomotive?
Sure would be nice if we could actually utilize them... No one seems to have the keys other than Diesel Service or GE. No one I know, conductor, engineer, or Trainmaster has any keys for them.
