Signal awareness form
Orange Choo Choo brought up this topic is another thread which has since been closed. I was unsatisfied with the information he received about it and wanted to clear some things up.
Signal awareness forms on the Bnsf are entirely filled out for the conductor minus the blank spaces for signal indication etc. Every signal in each direction is listed in geographical order as you would see them. All you have to do is fill in the aspect. I don't have a blank form to show you. Perhaps mr mrl can assist |

RE: Signal awareness form
Thanks for the info. I guess UP does it different or V only had access to a blank form.
It would be interesting to see the BNSF form for the San Bernardino sub as well as some others subs. Here is some info from BNSF regarding the signal awareness form: http://www.bnsf.com/employees/communicat...-03-c.html http://www.bnsf.com/employees/communicat...-16-g.html http://bnsf.net/employees/communications...-30-j.html It wasn't me. |

RE: Signal awareness form
I think UP only has blank forms and the conductor needs to fill it out. There aren't re-filled in forms for the subdivisions that I know of. Granted I was never a conductor.

RE: Signal awareness form
I don't have any of the forms in .pdf format to share, sorry. There are a bunch of them printed out, stapled, and stacked at the various terminals for all the road crews to use when they go on duty.
There are different ones for different crew routes. For example, a LAC-BAR Sig Form covers all signals from Hobart Yard to Barstow, a WAT-BAR Sig form includes the Alameda Corridor signals then BNSF sigs all the way to Barstow, etc... There are reverse copies for the return trips (BAR-LAC, BAR-WAT forms). LACLAC Sig forms cover Hobart yard to Esperanza and back. Watson Shuttle Sig Forms cover from Watson yard to Esperanza and back. The LAC-LAC and Shuttle forms cover return trips because the crew makes a round trip on one ticket. All the forms are routinely updated as new signals and mainline tracks are added and moved around. Mr. MRL [ǝɹǝɥ ǝɹnʇuƃıs ʇɹǝsuı] |

RE: Signal awareness form
What are the penalties if a Conductor doesn't mark down signal aspects and turns these forms in blank at the end of the run?

In all honesty Sig Awareness Forms are a means of keeping the conductor occupied during the trip. Other wise he'd just be twiddling his thumbs and waiving out the window at foamers most of the time. Occasionally exercising his voice over the radio too. Mr. MRL [ǝɹǝɥ ǝɹnʇuƃıs ʇɹǝsuı] |
