Yellow Swoosh BNSF 7695 at Commerce
Saw yellow swoosh BNSF ES44DC #7695 at Commerce. Unit was facing west and sandwiched by units on either side of it, but there was a clean shot from the platform.

Actually, I only realized it after I was standing there for about 15 minutes... Wasn't even going to shoot it until I saw that.

Been playing Mr. Mom for a few hours or would have posted earlier.

Normally, the "BNSF" on the sides are black but the company did a couple test versions in yellow.

It wasn't me.

BNSF's current logo consists of a bold, black "BNSF" with a long black wedge or "swoosh" underneath. In 2005 when BNSF's corporate image deciders were still finalizing the company's new 10 year logo, they applied a few test logos to then brand new ES44DCs. One 'Gevo', BNSF 7695 received a near solid yellow BNSF wedge logo keeping the color style more aligned with the then prevalent Heritage II logos on late order Dash 9s, and some first order ES44DCs. Ultimately, the decision was made to go with black logos instead, which stood out more against the orange locomotive paint. The swoosh term was coined by railfans comparing the new BNSF wedge logo to Nike's swoosh logo.

And BTW... BNSF 7695 is now headed eastbound, 3rd out in a 5 unit consist on a Q-LACFTM stack train early this afternoon.

I was going to chime in, but Mr. Mister L explained it absolutely perfectly.

A shot of the beast when it was ready to depart Fullerton with ATSF 3751 after being on display for Fullerton Railroad Days 2005.
