Planes and Trains
I had to go pick up a friend from the Burbank\Bob Hope Airport and take her back home in Victorville. And any chance to visit an airport or go though the Cajon Pass, I will bring my camera.
At the Burbank\Bob Hope Airport, I saw this neat mural on the main terminal of the airport. It is three Pegasus pulling a jet airliner. Mural On the way home, from the I-15, I saw a westbound "quality" Union Pacific passing Hill 582. So I made my way down the Highway 138 to catch the train while it crosses the dry Cajon Creek. Soon a eastbound BNSF intermodal was heading up the pass. Union Pacific crossing Cajon Creek BNSF power over Cajon Creek As I was getting near home, I happen to notice a Russian Antonov AN-124 code-name "CONDOR" by NATO. It is a heavy lift cargo plane, like the US Lockheed C-5 "Galaxy." It took several attempts to find a spot so that I can get two clear photos of the plane. AN-124 An-124 rear shot |

RE: Planes and Trains
That Russian bird is the largest cargo aircraft on earth. I saw it flying through March AFB a couple of years a go and I've been watching for it ever since.
Does anyone know if it regularly flies into the logistics center? |

RE: Planes and Trains
Nice shots Axy!
I thought all the tracks in the Valley were operated by SP? It wasn't me. |

Have a picture of it - truly impressive that something that big can even get off the ground. The 124 is owned by a contract freight outfit so no, not a regularly scheduled thang. One place you will see tham is in Seattle - it's the only vehicle large enough to fly engines for Boeing's 777s and does so several times a month. Axy had a longer lens on the DC-10 pic, mine wasn't as close ... TCS - remembers watching stacks at north Douglas. |

RE: Planes and Trains
I like the shot of the tailfin of the 727 and as well as the shots of the DC10. Its cool to see the Santa Fe trains going by in the background and the Southwest 737.
SP-How about a shot of a Santa Fe Stack Train and a Quantas Airways 747? |
