Harbor report - no pics
But I did have my camera with me ...
Empty windmill cars at ex-Cal United. MSC Maria Elena with three tugs coming into port with the 6 front rows stacked 2 and 3 deep with 53' Schneider and JB Hunt containers, several 45' boxes in the same area from OOCL. TCS - PRLX PR-30C at Dolores (not close enough for a number). |

OOCL is looking poised to take over the mid-harbor area in Long Beach according to an email blast from the POLB mailing that came out today. Always time for the dead... but I am not a huge fan. RE: Harbor report - no pics
Whats going to happen to LA container traffic, and ALL the associated railroads, when the Panama Canal widening is finished?

Answers in order of appearance:
1: DED - Dead 2: no, this is the third time I've seen big boxes coming from overseas but a first for Schneider and they definitely weren't new (scrathes, dirt, dings) Also the new ones come in by the score, not enough here for a delivery. 3: yep, bonk. 4: very little TCS - gotta look at T |

RE: Harbor report - no pics
That canal is designed to let the Chicom Aircraft Carrier into the Gulf of Mexico to support Castro. The additional shipping time and turn-around return time for the ship isn't going to make deliveries any cheaper or quicker. Where are thy going to unload the containers? Who is going to pay for the improved port and rail facilities to handle that increased loading, etc etc etc.

RE: Harbor report - no pics
It isn't cheap to do business at the port of LA/LB.
SP-Shippers want lower costs and good service. |

The rest of the quote still applies. |
