These caught me by surprise, an eastbound with a pair of AC6000s, and a a westbound with a '9043, a SD40-2, and a GP60. I also caught a perfect meet at the San Bernardino union station. Total of 11 trains in 2 hours. Not bad!

That is exactly one of the reasons I like railfanning the UP more then BNSF.

It's cause of all of these air quality regulations.

What I would do to see a solid DASH 9 powered train again.

West of Barstow boring?? Not so, at least not to the northwest of Barstow. Variety on the BNSF still lives on Tehachapi and points north. Southwest of Barstow isn't what it use to be though, as mentioned before due to EPA rules.

Most definentaly so. Last time I was up, saw 14 trains that day, three C40-8Ws, one of them was with an excecutive on a welded rail train. I have a link: http://z-trains.com/

It's in the new shots section.

Sorry I meant South of Barstow where there is the boring BNSF consists that go to LA, the ports, and other Socal points.

It isn't the EPA rules but its the South Coast Quality Air Management District which gives money to BNSF to have clean air locomotives in the Socal area.

SP-Tehachapi is better.
