A journey to Cajon
Strayed away from my usual weekend haunts on Tehachapi and made a trip over to Cajon pass yesterday. Great weather and plenty of action was the rule of the day. Main 3 sure got a work out, of the 12 westbounds only 3 of them used mains 1/2 with the rest going down #3. I personally haven't seen #3 that busy since it was still main 2. At any rate here are some photos from yesterday on the pass...

Didn't have to wait long for our first train, UP 7621 east (ZLADV). Photos taken from Hill 580 Wink

While waiting at Silverwood for a hot eastbound Z train working up the pass, BNSF ran a westbound stacker down main 3. The Z is crossing from main 1 to main 2.

After awhile of no trains we broke for lunch but as we started for the Subway we spotted a eastbound climbing up the pass so we ran back to Summit.

After getting some lunch we went back to Silverwood and took in the action. BNSF 7769 west was the 2nd westbound yesterday to use main 2. BNSF 7769 had a pair of ES44DCs bringing up the rear...

An eastbound working towards Summit

And a few final shots.....

Yet another westbound for main 3, UP 7509 west.

Another view of the 7509 on main 3.

We spent some time at Sullivan's curve where we were treated to the 1st westbound of the day to use main 1. Anyone feel like playing PAC-Man??

Last train of the day had a shiny 2011 production ES44C4 on the point. This train came down main 3 as well and is passing through old Cajon station.

Thanks for looking,
~Ryan

Awesome shots Ryan! That first Hill580 show is great with mountains background.

I believe that was the MSCWCX (Salt Lake City, UT to West Colton, CA; Manifest). I'm not 100% on that though.
