Thanks. I know my back very well and I have been icing every day and doing an exercise program I developed over the years along with a traction bed to buy me time. I find after 30 days I can sit  longer in front of the computer so I am playing catch up with my posts. I have appointments with an orthopedic spine surgeon and a neurosurgeon in February where I will learn more about my options. I saw my general practitioner a few weeks ago and he told me I need a hernia operation too. I just need to get my house done and then they can cut me open.

01-13-2015 La Selva Bridge Update – Installation Of Ties

I was told that the Stacy Withbeck bridge crew working on the SMART project in the North Bay would be coming down the week of January 12 to do the tie installation on the La Selva Bridge. I could not make it down to the bridge on Monday, but I was able to get away on Tuesday to see the ties being installed. When I arrived they had already completed installation of ties on the first two girder spans.

A group of three ties and one outrigger were stacked and lifted up to the deck for placement. Every fourth tie on the deck was drilled and a threaded J-bolt was installed to secure it to the girder span. Treated wooden guard rails were installed next on top of the ties and outriggers and secured by the J-bolts. The remaining ties were secured to the guard rails by large screws.

The work on the La Selva Bridge is scheduled to complete by the end of January and the bridge is scheduled to be put back in service the first week of February. It will not be long before trains will be running again across Leonard Gulch.
