While looking for some slides, I found this shot of the Santa Paula Local crossing the Santa Clara River at Montalvo, Ventura County, Calif. The SW 1500 has a healthy cut of reefers intow for the lemon and orange packinghouses on the branch. The date is July 3, 1976, the eve of the nations 200th birthday.

I worked out of Oxnard off and on Jonathan. And yes, I did work the Santa Paula job. In the late 60's and early 70's we would spot and pull dozens of reefers everyday on the branch. In those days there were 2 jobs that went out on the branch to take care of all the work.

I don't I've ever seen a 57' reefer that bright and shiny! Nice photo and memory of the good days.
